« Art finds me, it enriches my life, it lets me sink, and lifts me up. A recurring rhythm. Art is the pulse beat that determines my life. »

Sibylle Werkmeister, Contemporary Artist

Sibylle Werkmeister is a multidisciplinary artist, born in 1952 and raised in Weinheim, Germany.

Currently, she works in her studio near by Valencia, Spain.

About me

"I grew up in Weinheim, a small town in Germany. Since I remember, I was driven to become an artist by the urge to let my spirit run free and express my vision of the world.

I pursued my dream by studying Fine Art in Santiago, Chile, where I had the opportunity to learn from and become a master student of the renowned Prof. Raul Bustamante. During my time in Chile, I joined the student movement in the underground against the Pinochet military regime. This period of my life was one of the most formative, as I witnessed the disappearance of many artists, paintings and the power of art to inspire and create change. To be allowed to express  political opinions free and to be able to present them artistically is not always a given.

Following my studies, I worked as an independent artist in Spain and Germany, founding and running three art schools and working as an art lecturer for many years. My artistic practice is marked by an "emotional seeing". I am drawn to explore themes related to my environment, human rights, politics, and nature, seeking to capture the emotional essence of the subject in my work.

My art has been exhibited in numerous museums, private and public collections in countries such as the US, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Germany. These days I'm living and working near a small coastal village back in Spain."
